biking by the George Washington

We went biking and found ourselves George Washingto bridge bound. That is one thing I love out here...all the bridges! I guess that is what you get when you live on an island and the island tries to stay connected to the world!

I often forget that Manhattan is an island.

Along the way, we came across this Greek inspired structure on the side of the highway. Randomly placed? Yes. But I am beginning to not be so surprised at all the surprising things I see out here. This place has everything!

the cloisters

Oh the places we go. We went to The Cloisters--a really, quaint and European-ish castle of a building. It was so artsy with columns and pillars, gardens and breathtaking views. We snapped so many pictures...enjoy!

Guess where we went last weekend? Hint. Look at the sand between those tan feet.
We went to the beach on our first day as an engaged couple. We thought it was a perfect place to sit, enjoy the sun, and call all our friends and family to tell them the news!
Not just any beach, but the beach at Coney Island! We also took our bikes and rode along the pier. It was so typical Coney Island. What does that mean? I am not sure. But what do you think of when you think of Coney Island? I am sure it was just that. People, hot dogs, boardwalk, ferris wheels, roller coasters...
Of course we had to take a ride on the famous Cyclone...
Kyle snuck his camera on the ride and took pictures during the madness. He would.
I loved Coney Island. We are definitely coming back to this place!

ahem...ahem....

It happened. Finally. I am engaged! To this cute guy above. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world! Stories and details to follow...

along the river....

Cruisin' along the river in the Captain's boat at West Point. Loved the quaint, riverside towns we passed and the warm weather! I think I may have started getting a little tan. Confirmed that I never could have gone to West Point. Get this--the cadets MUST attend every home football game and stand the ENTIRE duration of the game and are REQUIRED to do cheers. Honestly? Additionally there were about a few hundred other rules that would have been tough to follow. However, the school is so old. Walking around campus you feel like you are in a huge stone castle with tall walls cascading up to the sky. It was very cool.

a touch of spring

i love Central Park. Spring flowers, budding musicians, and the Conservatory Garden. How can it get any better!

take me out to the ballgame...

Root, root, root for the YANKEES!!
When you live in NYC, you have to become a Yankees fan.
Even if you know absolutely NOTHING about baseball.
Even if you would love to "hate" the Yankees.
We became Yankees fans, for a night at least!
However, the new Stadium seemed nothing like a normal baseball stadium. We sat on fluffy leather cushioned field-side seats. Instead of just having hot dog stands, they had steak stands and sushi stands with chefs in big white chef hats. It seemed too much to be "just another day at the ball park."
But, we ate our peanuts and crackers jacks and sang along during the 7th inning stretch, and had ourselves a grand old time!

A proud State Farm moment!

Walks in Central Park have quickly become one of my favorite things to do in the city.
This was the view a few weeks ago. Since then, the trees have become green and full with leaves and flowers are blooming!
Whenever I need a moment of rejuvenation, a walk in Central Park will give me just that.
However, on Friday night, we headed over to CP for our first summer evening picnic in the park.
Turns out, we just about got attacked by raccoons in 3 different locations before we finally decided to leave. Whoever would have thought those, cute, furry little critters could be so vicious?
Maybe I will have to stick to daytime trips to the park from now on!
